Future Theory Festival is a 2 day celebration & showcase of the emerging alternative electronic music
scene in India. The festival offers a unique experience to the audience by providing a mix of carefully
curated artists line-up, public art initiatives, nature trails and a weekend getaway all set inside a 17th
Future Theory has something special for anyone who chooses to step into our time machine. If time travel is really your thing - then let us take you back in time to 17th century and give you a glimpse into the world of the fierce Maratha Warriors with a tour of the hallowed corridors of the Fort Jadhavgadh. Take leisurely strolls across the never ending grounds which may lead you to a chance encounter with the birds of paradise.
Once the sun begins to set, the fort grounds come to life with myriads of happy faces taking centre stage on the dance floor and stepping into our time machine once again, but this time we are going forward.
We step into the future.
The venue for our first ever Future Theory Festival is as grand as they come. Fort Jadhavgadh is a 300 year old heritage property which was converted into a uber luxury heritage hotel in the last decade. The rich cultural history of the property and the royal hospitality is as good as it gets. The Fort is a mere 2 hour drive from Mumbai (1 hour from Pune).
The fort is close to Pune, in the midst of fig and custard apple farms with a backdrop of the hill of Dive Ghat. Hills surround the structure, brown in summer and bright green in the monsoon. Despite the alterations, the original structure, built by Pilaji Jadhavrao, one of Chhatrapati Shahuji’s generals, is intact. Shahuji was the grandson of Shivaji and spent most of his childhood as a prisoner of the Mughals. When he was released in 1707, he picked a few warriors to build forts to protect his territory. Jadhavgadh was a safe haven and training centre for soldiers. The practical architecture lacks decorative carvings, but the durable stone and woodwork have endured.
When Vithal Kamath decided to restore Fort Jadhavgadh and turn it into a luxury resort in 2007, he was doing more than protecting a little piece of history. He was allowing travellers to imagine, for a little while, that they were fearless Maratha warriors. Maharashtra has over 300 forts in pristine locations high in the Ghats and on the pretty coastline but Fort Jadhavgadh is the only one where you can actually check-in and travel back in time.
The Deluxe rooms of the Fort are equipped with all conveniences and luxuries of the modern world.
Located on the lower level of the main fort, these spacious rooms have an uniquely designed bathroom that let you gaze up at the stars and feel the cool hill breeze- all while having a relaxing shower.
Live in something different - a Luxurious Royal Tent equipped with all modern amenities and an attached bath area.
4 quaint cottages filled with nests and chirping birds. These eco friendly cottages are unique in nature. Completely air conditioned and with all the modern amenities, Neem Forest cottage will amaze you.
Situated on the top level of the main fort, the Premium Hill View Rooms have a balcony overlooking the lawns and providing a view of the vast open spaces.
Located on top of the museum with its very own private entrance, the Museum Suite is one of the most sought after rooms of the fort.
Located at the top of the fort and below the Maharaja suite, the Maharani suite has a direct access to the swimming pool and the spa.
The Maharaja suite is a royal indulgence in the true sense. With a panoramic view of the surrounding hills, the Maharaja Suite was where the seat of power rested.
Future Theory is excited to announce 'The Backpackers Trails' as the official camping partner for our festival at Jadhavgadh fort, this February.
Deflating air travel prices, the popularity of career breaks, and a growing generational sense of adventurism are rolling back the frontiers of backpacking. Destinations that were once on the road less travelled have become the beaten track, while the beaten track has in many cases been paved over, illuminated in neon and transformed into a fast lane for travelers. As the traditional backpacker destinations ossify under the glare of big-brand commercialism and rising accommodation prices, other directions are continually emerging. And this is where we “The Backpackers Trails” come onto the fore.
The Backpackers Trails is a one of a kind tour company with rich and varid experience in tours and treks to some of the lesser known places in India.
